International Women's Day takes place this year on March 8th.

It's a global campaign to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women because visibility and awareness help drive positive change.

The theme this year is #BeBoldForChange. The campaign gives you the chance to declare bold actions you'll take as an individual or organization to help progress the gender agenda because purposeful action can accelerate gender parity across the world.

So what's happening in your area to help celebrate the day and raise awareness?

Well, there are some events taking place locally that are embracing International Women's Day. Here's the details...

Cumbria Westmorland Federation of Women’s Institutes presents: International Women’s Day event at The Coronation Hall in Ulverston from 10am till 4pm. 

It's a day full of:

Thai cookery demonstrations
Updates on international projects
Live music
Displays and more…

Tickets are £12 which includes soup and a tray bake lunch.

On Friday the 10th March Abbey House Hotel is the venue for Natwest Women in Business.

The event starts at 9.30am and concludes around 12pm.

It's free to attend and open to customers/non-customers.

Guest speaker will be Jane Binnion, MD of Ethical Business Training and the author of The Heart of Sales.

In this session Jane will talk about what gets in the way for women when they want to be bold for change, what fears you may have to face and what are the issues we have to look at.
