We here at Best of Barrow and Furness would just like to offer out sincerest commiserations to all those who lost somebody close to them on Wednesday due to the actions of Derek Bird. We may never know fully what caused this tragic event and it a blow to the whole area.
If you would, just take a moment now, to reflect on all the things that are great about our country and our towns. One of the great qualities is the community spirit and this has been well exemplified by the compassion and bravery shown in the face of the horrors of the past week.
We would also like to say thank you to the police who dealt with the issue calmly and rationally coping with an unfamiliar situation.
