Dalton Leisure Centre is a real community hub.
Built over 35 years ago the Leisure Centre was a result of tireless fundraising efforts from the South Cumbria community. The centre was built thanks to their dedication, commitment, enthusiasm and generosity, and has served the local community for generations.
Local people, from children to grandparents will have fond memories of using the facilities at some point in their lives. It’s a hub that’s had a positive impact on the lives of many local people.
Dalton Leisure Centre is now reaching out the community and asking for their help and support once more.
The current Climate Control System at the centre is outdated and in emergency repairs. The unit services the whole centre - the gym, classes, and the squash area, as well as keeping the ‘warmest pool in the north’ open too.
The aim is to replace the old system with a new energy efficient, environmentally friendly one.
The harsh reality is that if funds can’t be raised and the system replaced – the centre is in real danger of closing.
A crowdfunding campaign is due to launch on 1st March when the centre will launch a Keep Us Afloat Crowdfunding project. There will be some amazing rewards and sponsorships available including:
The aim is to raise £20,000 in 6 weeks. When this target is reached Sports England will donate a further £10,000 to add to the overall target of £30,000 +
Please rise up, get involved in whatever way you can and help ensure that Dalton Leisure Centre is around to serve the local community for many, many more years to come.
