It’s that time again where we turn the spotlight on one of our local heroes – someone who has made a positive difference to their community throughout the tough times we’re all facing.

In this blog we’re shining a light on local business woman and owner of The Hat Box, Tracy Wells

Tracy is a well known and well- respected designer milliner based in Upper Brook Street Ulverston.

Famed for her fabulous hats and fascinators – Tracy creates bespoke works of real beauty for her clients, perfect pieces for any occasion – from weddings to a day at the races. Her creations are quite simply stunning!

Like most business owners Tracy has had to close her shop to the public during the coronavirus outbreak, but her talents and material have not gone to waste and Tracy has been busy reaching out to the local community.

Tracy was one of the first members of the Self Isolation Ulverston Facebook Group, a group set up to help the Ulverston Community during the Coronavirus outbreak. The group exists to help anyone who is self- isolating or unwell. It gives them a platform to contact non isolated members of the community should they need help with day to day tasks such as shopping, sending post or collecting medication.

But Tracy’s contribution to supporting local people doesn’t begin and end there.

Time is something we’ve all got more of these days, so Tracy decided to put together "How to make your own Fascinator " DIY packs complete with clear instructions and photographs. Her Fascinator Workshops have been a huge success. The packs arrive by post and include everything needed to make a lovely fascinator of your own, there are different colours to choose from, and a range of embellishments available too. A link to a ‘how to’ video is sent after confirmation of payment has been received.

Tracy has also put her creative flair to good use by making face-masks. Over 150 masks have been given to local people, posted through their doors to help keep them safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. These have been given, for free to help support the local community. It’s a wonderful gesture that won’t be forgotten.
