Spring is a fantastic time to get out in the garden or allotment and start planning and growing ready for the seasons ahead.

With that in mind a local charity group is starting a new project to help members of the community.

Ulverston Mind helps people going through challenges to their mental well-being. These can range from short periods of stress caused by life events to longer lasting conditions.

For one in four people, these challenges can prevent them from living their lives to the full.

Ulverston Mind is looking for volunteers to be part of their allotment project. The initiative is all about promoting and nurturing mental wellbeing in the local community. The new plot they’ll be working on is situated within walking distance of Ulverston Town centre.

If you can spare a few hours a week, and are interested in being part of an enthusiastic team of volunteers, then they would love to hear from you. There’s nothing quite like the sense of  achievement you get from eating the food that you’ve spent time and energy growing and nurturing, and they are hoping to grow some wonderful things that can then be used to create healthy and tasty recipes.

The team at Ulverston Mind would really welcome any help, advice and donations of tools to help them on their way.

For more information call the team on 01229 581578, or drop in and have a chat.
