Barrow Raiders RLFC are holding their annual Family Fun Day at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium on Saturday 8 June featuring an exciting array of activities designed to introduce people to the benefits of being active and the thrill of being involved in sport.

The day, which runs from 10am-3pm, features guest appearance from Raiders players including star forward Alec Susino, goal kicking competitions, tug of war, demonstrations and a host of hands-on activities.

This year’s event is raising money for charity CancerCare which has centres in Barrow, Kendal and Lancaster and provides free professional therapy and support for people dealing with cancer, and their families.

The event is free for under 16s and £3 for adults.

CancerCare Head of Fundraising Emma Athersmith said:  “Our partnership with the Raiders has enabled us to reach an even wider range of people with information about how we can help people and their ethos as a community club is very similar to our own.  We’re really looking forward to the fun day which will have loads of activities and attractions to enable local people to have a great time and also connect with this fantastic family-orientated club.”

Barrow Raiders Chairman Steve Neale said:  “All at the club hope that the Fun Day both raises vital funds and awareness of the great work done by the charity. The event itself is helping to promote an active lifestyle and again that complements the values of all of the area’s rugby clubs.”

The Barrow Raiders Family Fun Day takes place on Saturday 8 June from 10 am-3pm. For more information visit www.cancercare.org.uk or call the CancerCare Barrow Office on 01229 836926.
