Fancy getting fit? - Jog on..

I’ll be honest; I do this every year, I start off with all the best intentions, but struggle to get motivated and eventually lose the enthusiasm to keep going altogether. It’s cold, it’s dark, I’ll go tomorrow; the list of excuses are never ending (well they are in our house). It’s difficult to train and get fit on your own, and without other people with you who can encourage you (and maybe give you a kick up the bum from time to time) it’s all too easy to slip back into bad habits.

If you’re looking for a fun way to keep fit and meet new people, then why not join a running club? There are plenty around across Furness, and they’re always looking for new members. People of all ages and ability are always given a warm welcome, so why not give one a try?

Here’s a list of some of the clubs in Furness:

Parkside Panthers:
A local group with an interest in running at all levels. Friendly & fun!!!

Hoad Hill Harriers:

They are a small running club based in Ulverston on the north side of Morecambe Bay and just south of the Lake District National Park. No matter what reason you have for joining this club; be it social or competitive, 5k to marathon you will always find a warm and friendly welcome. They meet on Monday and Thursday evenings starting the sessions at 7 p.m. and finishing between 8 - 8.30 p.m.
Both ladies and men enjoy the safety and companionship that running with a group offers. Juniors over 14 and under 16 are also welcome but must be accompanied by a parent for legal reasons. The Club organises several races, socials and trips to other club races.
