If you’ve had the pleasure of visiting Ford Park in Ulverston recently you’ll not only have seen how wonderful the park looks but how amazing the garden has become.

This is a result of all the hard work that the Ford Park team and their fantastic, dedicated volunteers put in each and every day.

Now the team have something else special to share with the community.

Ford Park have been working with Garden Organics on a new Compost Demonstration Site.

During their popular Apple Day event on the 7th October, Garden Organics and the Master Composters officially opened the demonstration site and people came along to learn all about composting and to sieve their own compost to take home.

Ford Park’s compost area is one of a network of similar sites being set up across Cumbria by the organic growing charity, Garden Organic in collaboration with various partners, and will be used to show visitors to the park how easy it is to compost at home.

Composting at home is simple to do, produces something for free and helps save time, money and the planet!

It’s good for the environment, for the garden and for you too.

Ford Park’s compost area has signage that explains the different compost areas including worm composting, compost tumblers and a hot bin, and you’ll be able to get some great advice from Ford Park’s very own Master Composters Toby and Steve who are often around to answer your questions and show you around.

For a donation you can walk away with a bag of Ford Park compost and the inspiration to start home composting too.

So - what are you waiting for?

Come along to Ford Park and find out more about the wonderful world of composting!
