Taking place on Saturday 21st July, Dalton Road will once more be a showcase for a fantastic range of vintage and classic cars as well as classic motorcycles too.

Barrow BID is arranging for clubs and individual enthusiasts to display their classic vehicles. It’s an event that appeals to all generations. For the older folk it provides a dose of nostalgia with a real trip down memory lane. The younger generation gets to see the cars that were being driven back in the ‘olden’ days!

Last year’s event saw 33 classic cars and 33 motorcycles exhibited, this year organisers are looking to double those numbers.

Vehicle owners will be on hand to talk about their passion for restoring and maintaining their pride and joys, and the many hours that go into ensuring their vehicles are in the best possible condition.

These fantastic vehicles will start to arrive at 9am and will be in place by 10am, where they will be on display ‘till 3.30pm. Then they will leave, in convoy, along Duke Street and up Abbey Road, a spectacle not to be missed!

It promises to be a wonderful day, and not only do you get to see the many superb vehicles and talk to their proud owners, you also have the opportunity to take advantage of being in the town centre, having a bite to eat, grabbing a coffee or doing a spot of shopping too.

Looking ahead to the event, Colin Garnett – Barrow BID Manager explains:, “These type of events are a great way of encouraging people to visit Barrow’s Town Centre and as well as seeing a wealth of vehicles from yesteryear, visitors will be pleasantly surprised at the range of quality shops and cafes in the town. It is not a secret that high streets are struggling throughout the UK, as they have to compete with out-of-town shopping parks and the internet…. but if we don’t support local shops and our own town centre, we will end up losing our independent shops and Barrow, like other Northern towns, will lose its identity.”

Road closures on the day.

Vehicles will be located along Dalton Road between High Street and Harrington Street from 10am - 3.30pm on Saturday 21st July.

This will affect the bottom end of Dalton Road between High Street & Buccleugh Street, which will be closed to motorists on the day.

High Street & Buccleugh Street will remain open during the day so motorists are advised to take extra care when using these roads.

With vehicle owners turning up from 9.15am, the BID is advising other motorists to avoid town centre streets between 9.15am and 10am on Saturday 21st July.

Where you can find all the fantastic vintage vehicles

The event starts at 10am on Saturday 21st July and vehicles will be located the length of Dalton Rd from High Street to Hartington Street. A collection of scooters will be outside Salvanas Restaurant, Campers outside Trespass, a Bus outside Thomas Cook and a range of Motor Cycles outside Thorntons Cafe.

If anyone has a vintage/classic car/bike and would like to take part, or would like their club to be involved in this day, please register your interest at manager@barrowbid.co.uk
