We’re constantly reminded that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but despite that 1 in 4 of us regularly skip it, blaming hectic lifestyles and simply being too busy of a morning to eat properly.
To combat this, and make people aware of the benefits of a healthy breakfast the annual campaign Breakfast Week was formed. This takes place this year from the 24th – 30th January.
Breakfast Week is managed by AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds and is run on behalf of arable farms that grow crops such as wheat, barley, oats and oilseed rape.
The purpose of the Shake Up Your Wake Up is to make people aware of the wealth of wonderful breakfast produce that’s available to them, and to encourage people to think a little bit more about where their breakfast foods come from.
Farmers, food producers, retailers and consumers are all being encouraged to get behind the campaign, get involved and show their support for promoting the benefits of a good healthy breakfast.
There are lots of activities and promotions taking place over the week, with plenty of ideas on how you can get involved. Activities include taster sessions, cookery demos, special breakfast menus, school breakfast clubs, breakfast competitions and much more.
