Carnivals have always played a big part in the local community. Thousands of people take part or spectate every year making them, for many people, one of the highlights of the year.
Whether you’re an organiser, a member of a dance troupe, a volunteer or a local performer, they’re wonderful to be part of. The sights, sounds, and community spirit that carnival brings is truly amazing.
Sadly, this has been something that Barrovians have missed out on since Barrow Carnival was pulled back in 2013. Sure, you can always visit Dalton, Askam or Ulverston’s Carnival, but it’s not the same as having one in your own town is it?
Well that’s all about to change thanks to the involvement of Ultimate Events.
Denis and Beth Horan stepped in last year to help co-ordinate the Barrow Christmas lights switch on, and now the local entertainers have been asked to help resurrect Barrow Carnival too.
On 24th June a fundraiser will be held in Barrow Park to help raise funds for Barrow Carnival 2018.
The Carnival funday will have face painting, Taylor’s funfair, stalls, the ever popular dance competition, fantastic live music, characters, and much more.
It’s hoped that they will raise enough money to bring the carnival and parade (there won’t be a parade this year) back to the town in 2018,
It’s about time Barrow got its Carnival back, and with your support, it can happen. This is a community event, and all help however great or small will be greatly appreciated. If you want to get involved in anyway, the team would love to hear from you.
You may run a business or be involved in a charity and want to sponsor or have a stall at the event. You may want to serve food at the fundraiser. You may be a member of Rotary and have experience in holding events like this that would be invaluable. You may be a local singer who wants to perform, whatever you can bring to this event – don’t hesitate to get in touch with Denis or Beth.
