Thank you Marsh Farm for a fantastic magical Christmas day out. My boys aged 7, 5 and 3 months had the best time ever. So much Christmas fun to keep them entertained. The Elves were brilliant, lots of singing and dancing. We will be coming back next year.

As local metal detectorists whose recent finds we are told maybe acquired by the museum, we were disappointed to see how they might be treated in the future.

The detail and quality of Roman and Saxon Coins has to be appreciated under decent lighting.; the curator or volunteer told us that it had to be subtle lighting in order for the museum to achieve its yearly accreditation.

Well I’d say take a torch with you or use your phone because the coins and ancient artifacts are just brown blobs unlike in the British Museum where they are properly illuminated under LED lights.

Many ‘items of daily use’ were hidden in a badly lit case in a dark corner and randomly mixed with modern items.

Many rare coins are so dark it’s impossible to appreciate the early art work and craftsmanship. .

Despite this we enjoyed our visit as there was plenty to see, but if you’re looking for detail and visual quality, we’d suggest you take a trip to London.
