The Artists of Wimbledon

One thing that the continued success of the Merton Art Trail has taught us is that art is everywhere. Take a stroll around the trail and you’ll see artists’ work peeking out of boutique windows or tucked away in Cannizaro Studios.

Wendy Bliss is right at the heart of Wimbledon’s current frenzy of art. As co-founder of the Merton Art Trail, Wendy has been behind the annual event since its launch, four years ago.

An artist herself, Wendy's desire to celebrate the plethora of artistic talent in Wimbledon is taken from her own experience as an artist. Wendy takes the inspiration for her own work from the grand masters, then reweaves these classical compositions with her own narrative. The result is stunning and another reminder of some of the incredible talent that Wimbledon has to offer.

If you’d like to visit an exhibition of Wendy’s latest work be sure to visit the Lingfield Road Gallery on 27th-28th September or 4th-5th October from 11:30am-5:30pm.

The exhibition comprises an array of new works on textiles and paper, including those shown at the Garden Museum in Lambeth as part of an exhibition in remembrance of the outbreak of the First World War.
