This year Mother's Day falls early in March (Sunday 6th) and we're predicting that the special date has crept up on a lot of you! We're sure you haven't forgotten, but if you're stuck for original ideas of things to do and things to gift on the day, we've got you covered.

Things to do in Wimbledon

Afternoon Tea
Wimbledon's favourite country house come up-market restaurant Cannizaro House is renowned for its delicious afternoon tea. Enjoy bubbles and scrumptious tea and cake in a relaxing, cosy environment which your mother will surely appreciate. Go for a walk around the stunning Cannizaro Park afterwards to walk off the cake!

Mother's Day Lunch
A little further afield, Holiday Inn Kingston South are offering a truly special Mother's Day lunch deal. The carvery lunch buffet includes a complimentary glass of Prosecco for mum and a professional photographer will be on hand to take family photos for your mother to treasure. Plus, a professional pianist will be playing all-time favourites. More info here.

Rose garden tour at Morden Hall Park
Trust us on this one - it's a corker. If the weather's nice, you'd be foolish to miss out on this special afternoon out with the family at Morden Hall Park. Enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful Rose Garden and learn about the history of the park - all for just £2! Only downside? Dogs aren't allowed. The tours are between 11am - 4pm on Sunday 6th March.

Things to gift in Wimbledon

Family Photoshoot
Think of this gift as an investment. When was the last time (if ever) you had a professional photographer take photographs of your family? These photos will be the ones your family (and future generations) will treasure and look back on - not your shoddy phone pictures that you upload to Facebook. Get it done properly, and whilst you're at it, invest in beautifully framed photographs for your mother to display proudy in her home. Have a look at Julia Boggio and James Russell's portfolios.

Dance Lessons
With the huge popularity of TV programme Strictly Come Dancing, more and more women are taking up ballroom dancing - a nod to what they might have done when they were younger (or what their mother's did when they were younger - depend on their age!). Dancing is a great way to keep healthy, get fit, meet new people and learn something new. We've got two brilliant options for your mother: London Ballroom Studio who focus on traditional ballroom and Latin dances, and DanceCraze who focus on dancing for fitness.

Beauty Treatments
Add a spring to your Mother's step by giving her a confidence-boosting beauty treatment of her choice. Spoil her with a gift voucher and she can choose any treatment, whether it's a facial, massage, haircut, or something more adventurous! We can highly recommend Ruby May for all things beauty (massages, facials, tanning, mani and pedicures, etc) and Gina Conway for luxurious hair treatments including cuts, styling, colouring and a host of beauty treatments.

Make-up Consultation
There's no denying that women love make-up. The hard part is finding the best product for your skin, because it's not a one-size-fits-all game. To add to the confusion, skin changes as you get older, so your favourite products may no longer be best. Kaz Fernando is a professional make-up artist who deals with many Wimbledon clients. Her vast range of experience means she really knows her make up-dos to make up-don'ts and can help your mother to discover her new favourite make-up products, and most importantly, know how to effectively use them!

And finally, don't forget the flowers!
Whether you go for cheaper supermarket flowers or fresher, longer-lasting flowers from a florist, this is the easiest way to win at Mother's Day. Flowers are an oldie but a goodie when it comes to gifts. We highly recommend Brian Kirkby and the Village Florist.
