It's nearly August and although the weather seems to believe it's already autumn, we are now in the school holidays. And to reflect that, there are plenty of family friendly events and activities taking place in and around Watford this weekend.

Here are our top picks for Saturday August 1st and Sunday August 2nd 2015.

Bhaktivedanta Manor Family Fun Day

From 11am until 4pm on Saturday August 1st, the monks at Bhaktivedanta Manor in Aldenham near Watford, invite you to join them for a fantastic family fun day out.

Activities include ox-cart rides, hand milking cows, a bouncy castle, face painting, glitter tattoos, henna and much more. You could try out yoga and meditation, and you can find out more about the amazing history of the Manor and George Harrison garden.

And if that's now enough, there is a free veggie lunch and parking is completely free!

T20 Cricket Tournament Family Day

In the mood for a game of cricket? Join Watford West Indian Caribbean Association at St Albans West Indian Cricket Club for a T20 cricket tournament and fun day out!

Food, drink, fun, entertainment – and cricket – abound from 11am until 8pm on Sunday 2nd August 2015.

The Big Beach – Surfboard Sunday

Sadly, Sunday 2nd August marks the last day of this year's Big Beach in Watford town centre. Surfboard Sunday is the perfect way to say goodbye – music, a surfboard simulator to try out (and more than like fall off!) and time with family and friends to enjoy the last day at the 'seaside'.

Winnie the Pooh Day

Winnie's visit to Aldenham Country Park has proved so popular that the iconic Disney character now 'goes down to the woods' on the first Sunday of every month.

Taking place from 10:30am until 12:45pm, there is a lovely mix of crafts and activities, a treasure hunt around 100 Aker Woods and of course, meeting Winnie the Pooh himself!

Please note that you must pre-book. Contact details can be found by clicking here.

So far, so good in terms of the weather (although you can never be sure so keep checking!) At the time of writing, Saturday looks pretty good, with a cloudy start making way for mainly sunny spells and a high of 20 degrees. Sunday is warmer with the temperature predicted to reach 22 degrees, but may have more cloud coverage.
