I took our playscheme to the Leather Museum there was 16 of us in total age range from 7 - 17 we had an incredible time. There was lots of activities for the children to do! I have never been before but David and Francesca were very accommodating and we used the equipment to make leather key fobs and the older children sewed leather love hearts and our young ones made dragons! We had a wonderful time at the museum! The staff were superb and very informative! hope to visit again soon!

Really lovely staff, extremely welcoming, with interesting displays and a nice shop with handmade items. The museum is a very manageable size so is not overwhelming (nevertheless, there is certainly enough information and history packed into the place!). I went with my mum and sister and we were all extremely impressed, agreeing that we should definitely visit again!!

Impressive right from the start! Arriving (with my mum and sister) a little before opening time, a lovely gentleman allowed us to have a seat inside rather than stand outside. The lady on the desk was extremely nice and helpful for our entire visit - even coming to find us once we had ventured upstair to find out what my name was so she could ask the curator to sign the book I had just purchased!! (he was also the author of the book!).

The museum is a very manageable size yet full of information, displays, and - leather!! The shop sold a number of handmade leather items and some very reasonably priced bags of small leather pieces, along with a small range of books. It would be great if the museum also sold larger pieces / hides too...maybe in the future?! The building had a lot of character and historical relevance and it was interesting to learn more about the local saddle trade.

All in all, it was a great visit made special by all of the attentive and lovely staff. I can't remember the last time my mum was persuaded to visit a museum (!!) but even she loved it and we all agreed we'd definitely like to go back again!!

When visiting it's obvious that the volunteers have immense subject knowledge and passion about leather and leatherworking. If you have any questions, they're more than happy to answer. The museum itself isn't very big, and there's not actually that much to look at, but it's well worth an amble. The gift shop is also very interesting and has lots of cool little bits and pieces as well as handcrafted leather items.

The museum is also great if you're interested in local history - a few years back I had a question about something and was given photocopies of a bunch of papers from their archives for free.

Booked a guided tour, for 10 people, with Ian which was very interesting and informative. Ian is a local man who has a passion for History which became obvious as the tour developed. All staff were very helpful and could not do enough for us. They were most helpful with those of us with reduced mobility. Fantastic, authentic Museum. An excellent day out when combined with a visit to The New Walsall Art Gallery.
