I visited the museum today with my 88 year old mother (who had worked at the factory in 1940, for a very short time doing war work) we had a fantastic time the place is amazing, really interesting, and this is helped by the staff who can't do enough for you. Paul and Ian were full of information. This place is a must to visit. Bought a lovely leather belt in the shop, great workmanship. Keep up the good work. And be sure to visit the cafe , which is run by the college nearby for some very reasonably priced and tasty snacks. Will definitely re-visit when next in the area.

As a resident of Walsall a trip to the Walsall Leather Museum was well overdue.
What a fantastic experience. The reception staff were warm, welcoming and very knowledgable. Following the route through the museum the crafts and processes were clearly displayed in the set presentations.
There were retired craftsmen and women on hand to demonstrate and explain the secrets of the industry from tannery finished product. They were able to give fascinating stories to make the experience more enjoyable and informative. Well worth a visit.

Me and my husband took our 6 year old son who loved every second. Ron and Keith were amazing showed us everything and interacted with our son the whole time. We all loved it and will definitely visiting again.great day for the whole family.

My wife and I with two friends visited on 30th December, having heard about the museum and looked at the website.
The museum is a really fascinating insight into part of our industrial heritage. The visit was made all the more interesting by the talk given by Ron, a "never to retire" currier. His knowledge and passion about the subject really brought the visit to life for us.
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Through this review, we would like to thank them for their enthusiasm.
Only one slight disappointment was that the café was not open on the day of our visit. We understood the reason, i.e. that the college, of which the café is part, was closed on that day. We had travelled some distance and a cup of tea or coffee would have been appreciated. However, this did not detract from a very interesting visit.

We dropped in to the Leather Museum as I'd heard it was very good and was free to enter. We did not expect to get a tour, but were really pleasantly surprised to get shown around by a lovely and knowledgeable man called Ron. He is very entertaining, full of interesting information, used to be a currier himself, and -as he told us himself - is 89 years old! This museum is already very informative, but with Ron's guidance we learned a lot about the leather-making industry. Brilliant!

Myself and my 7 year old son visited this museum recently and we spent a couple of hours wondering around and talking to the staff and demonstrators. The museum provides a great insight in to the leather industry in and around Walsall while the demonstrators provide detailed insight in to their craft. My son was totally engaged by the demonstrations and throughly enjoyed our visit. I also found the displays interesting and informative. I'm sure we will visit again!

Walsall Leather Museum is a brilliant insight into our town's rich industrial heritage. The staff are knowledgeable and go out of their way to make visitors welcome. The recreated workshops are fascinating and the exhibits are wonderful, especially the handbags and the current display of Walsall-made vintage leather and suede clothing from the 1970s.
The on-site cafe is excellent value, too.

I worked next door to the Leather museum. They provide a wonderful history of Walsall's leather goods industry,some beautiful leather gifts in their shop , but dont forget to go to their cafe for a bite to eat and try their cakes!!!!

The Museum is a Fascinating Living Archive of Walsall's history of Leather Making and the associated Metal Manufacturers (Lorimors) of such things as Bits and spurs etc.. The Staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. You can try your hand at making your own souvenir or keyring and try fitting the reins to a horse. Allow about an hour to two hours for the tour (You can have a guided tour or find your own way) and,

I guarantee if you have any interest at all in Leather Crafting or Horses, both the Museum and The Sculpture will leave an outstanding and lasting impression on you - And, If you ate at the Cafe your day will be Replete.

My Husband and I visited the Leather Museum and started with a meal in the Café. then had a guided tour around the Museum itself. To hear from a person who actually worked in the industry and the other Guide opened our eyes to the industry that went on there. Will certainly go again..

A great place to visit, and learn about the leather industry of Walsall and surrounding area. The staff are so informative, and want all visitors to enjoy their visit. Its not just leather either, fashion accessories, local engineering, and at the moment a display to books that are out of this world for an equestrian. The shop is stocked by local products also, and the cafe, is brilliant, freshly cooked food, good price, a little haven. Its a not to be missed place to visit.

This is a fantastic museum about the leather trade in Walsall. The displays and objects are informative and interesting, the shop is well stocked (buying myself a good quality, locally made wallet) and I had a meal in the café which was well priced and tasty. The front of house staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the leather trade in Walsall and local history in general, I spent a good 10-15 minutes chatting to their member of staff about Walsall. It was a really enjoyable and pretty museum and I would definitely recommend a visit. Plus It is free entry which was a bonus

Really interesting tour from Ron who is 88 and STILL working as a guide having started at 14 in the tanner as an apprentice.

This museum is on two floors and includes a workshop. It tells the story of the Walsall leather industry. The workshop attendant was an amazing gentleman who proudly told us he was 90 and had been working - and continued to work - the leather for his entire working life. What he didn't know about it wasn't worth knowing. He was a real gem. The museum has a gift shop with reasonably priced items - many made of leather of course - and a cafe, which I didn't visit. I didn't think it would have been of particular interest to young children

We have visited the museum several times and have taken visitors there from all over the UK and Belgium. All have been fascinated by the history of the area and the leather-making and -working process. None of us has left feeling bored or dis-satisfied. The staff are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The café is small, but doesn't claim to be a restaurant. Again, the staff are friendly and the prices extremely reasonable. On our last visit it appeared to be a popular destination with locals for lunch. From start to finish, everyone wanted to make this a positive experience and they succeeded. We shall certainly return and introduce more visitors to this delightful museum.

Lived in Walsall,trained in Walsall and live close by now. This was my first visit and loved it. Was especially interested in the tanning as I used to live in Tanhouse Avenue. Staff friendly, exhibitions interesting and interactive.Nice grounds and cafe.Shall be going again soon.

This brilliant walsall attraction will appeal to anyone that has an interest in social history, leather trade and hands on exhibitions.
The staff all seem absolutely committed to ensuring that visitors enjoy the experience and a big thank you to Claire for showing us around.
Sometimes we take for granted what is on our doorstep and I would encourage any locals to go and enjoy the experience plus the visitor I had with me from Yorkshire was blown away by how good it was , especially for free.

My friend and I visited on 17th October and found a warm welcome with very informative guides - all for free! We were particularly impressed with Ron who had worked in the leather trade for 70 years and now gives his time to explain and demonstrate the process of currying. We even took the opportunity of making a key fob and did some embossing. I would recommend this attraction to all age-groups.
