Have been meaning to visit for a number of months, and finally made it today. Wish I’d come sooner. Great museum, informative exhibits, interactive, and staff who are very knowledgeable and passionate about their work, especially Keith the volunteer, and the lady on reception. Would highly recommend a visit. 10 our of 10 😀.

We recently visited twice in a fortnight to ask advice about family members who had worked in the industry. On both occasion we met lovely knowledgable people. They were genuinely interested in not only helping us but directing us to other possible sources of information. Walsall you have an international gem in this museum and its warm staff.

Make your own leather keyring, understand the fascinating process of making leather, see and touch all manner of leathers, and enjoy browsing the high quality leather goods in the shop.

I visited the museum with 7 year old during the school summer holidays. She was very happy to participate in the drop in session making UFO models which was well organised and she throughly enjoyed. Costs were minimal and for some sessions free. Staff were very welcoming and pleasant. There was a simple but absorbing superhero sticker hunt which encouraged children to explore the museum and win a small prize for completion. Will be visiting again soon.

It's so much more than it appears on first impressions. It's a sizable site, with well presented exhibitions & is a really informative journey. The staff are really lovely & I'm already booked in for future events there!

My friend has recommended that we came here and we had a thoroughly enjoyable trip. There are many interesting exhibits at this museum and we were very surprised with how many authentic items were on show. We were able to make a real leather key ring with a choice of many designs. It was amazing.

Interesting place. I like all the workshops, shame they are not used more for educational workshops. Maybe they are? Would be good to see more advertising for such events.

Walsall Leather Museum is just as it was when a working factory. Original machinery and photographs can be seen. Suitable for adults and children alike. During the holidays they always have activities for the children. Adults can join a class to make your own leather bag. Lovely tea room to relax in after a visit. Excellent value.

This museum hosts family days during the holidays, they are free to go to and whenever we have taken the children they have had a great time. We saw clowns, punch and judy, jugglers and lots more. Café serve lovely food or bring a packed lunch. There is car parking on the pay and display opposite.

This museum is free, so I shouldn't grumble. The story of the rise and fall of the leather trade in Walsall is well laid out, but the whole thing needs bringing to life. I only stayed for 20 minutes and I had seen everything. It lacks the old videos, audio stories from retired workers, or even an in house craftsman running his/her business within the museum.

The displays of modern leather work from expensive modern firms seemed out of place, at least there were far too many of them.

If you do take young children, don't expect to be there for long.

The cafe is closed, although for £1 they will open a sache of Nescafe for you and pour some hot water on it.

I think it is shame they don't make more of it and charge for admission.

I used to work in the leather trade many years ago but had lost touch. I wanted to incorporate leather into my hobby of jewellery making. I went to the right place. The ladies on reception were so helpful and provided me with a list of manufactureres and suppliers of what i was looking for.

Although I had been to the museum for meetings in the past, I had never been a walk around it. I am so glad I did. I met Paul, who is the caretaker there and with his helpful advice, I am now the proud owner of an awl to sew my leather and from the ladies on reception, knew where to go to buy my thread. A big thank you to all 3.

I did buy a beautiful purple leather purse before I left. My next trip was to the supplier on the list so I could buy thread.

Well worth going there for advice. I did see that the craft activities were full and actually suggested to my hairdresser today to take her grandson as he loves crafts.

The staff were lovely , it will definitely be a must on all future stays with nanny. BIG thank you from us all .

Visited the Leather Museum shop as I was looking for a gift for my sister & Brother-in-law’s 3rd Wedding Anniversary ( leather) . Staff were very helpful in looking for the perfect gift and helping to make it personal. Thank you Paul for your patience and for helping me create the perfect gift, which they loved 🙂 !

This wonderful museum, is a great place to visit with family & friends. There is a guide to show you around the museum and they explain all about the history of Walsall and the leatger industry. There are ex leather workers who demonstrate making leather items and are great to talk to, plus for a minimal fee you can design your own keyring!! Sadly the cafe is closed at the moment, but you can still buy drinks in the lovely gift shop, which sells locally made leather goods. My kids loved the toys they sold too. A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours without breaking the bank.
