We found this pub hidden away off the main road near to m6 cannock island.
Never been before and only live a few miles away. .. anyway, we saw the sign and thought we would try it out. The meal was very nice , large amount too... the banoffee pie was to die for!!
We will definitely go again. Shame we didn't know about this place before. Perfect if you want nice food whilst passing past cannock .

We have a soft spot for this pub and always seem to end up there when we fancy a good steak. Their steak is locally sourced and beautifully cooked.
The pup stays away from "offers" and a vast menu so what you get is good quality food in generous portions, maybe not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. The chips are extra special, home cooked, chunky. There's a nice seating area outside, quiet now that it's no longer the main road from Cannock to Wolverhampton.
Service is usually prompt and attentive without being intrusive. We have been going regularly now for about 2 years and have never had a bad meal, although we do tend to go midweek when it is quieter.

I have dined here several times and had no concerns booking for my partner's birthday meal. Upon entering, we were called to be served with 'Who's next?' Ok, not the end of the world. I explained I had booked a table, we were told where our table was situated, the last time I went into a restaurant where I had and even had not booked, I was shown to my table - regardless of how many colleagues or busyness of the place. With our starters we received moldy bread, no apology, just 'are you sure its not a seed?' No, unless poppy seeds are blue and green with white fluff, its mould. We asked for drinks to accompany our second course and were told its not waitress service yet when we arrived I watched other diners receiving their drinks whilst eating. Ok, attitude aside, full from massive plates (which each one was accompanied by dashes around the edge of each plate of paprika? Even on a steak and ale pie) I convinced my party to consider dessert. We gave our orders, yet I didn't even receive mine. The girl plonked them down and left but said nothing and in my obvious naivety I believed she was returning with mine only to see her going outside to collect glasses. We appeared when collecting the bill to have two items 'splash pop'?! added which I have no clue what these were and didn't notice until we left. Overall, our party was more than happy with our company and decidedly disappointed with our choice of venue. I'll not return here again. Poor compared to previous. Very poor.

Whilst not a pub you pass by its just off the road by J11 of M6 on the road that used to go to Cannock before the road layout changed. But its well worth a visit. The car park is big so no worries there and there is seating outside if the weather allows. The menu has a good choice and is always a good quality as is the drink. The service is always friendly and a good. Well worth a visit

Dined at The Wheatsheaf Inn after staying in the travelodge and it being recommended to us for a nice, chilled dinner.
Arrived and it was quiet, waitress was pleasant and took our order promptly and courteously. We opted for the sunday riast of roast turkey, Yorkshire puddings, gravy, veg, roast potatoes and mashed potatoes. Was lovely altho the mash was a bit lumpy and it could have all been warmer.Wine was nice and the puddings were nice too. Very reasonable meal. A lot of flies which we didn't understand altho it was very hot!
All in all a nice meal. You get what you pay for.

Reasonably priced home cooked food, a little out pod the way but well worth a visit had Sunday lunch twice now and although busy, didn't have to wait too long to be served.

We stayed in the car park as part of the 'Brit Stop' Motor home scheme, where they let you stay in their car park, on arrival we learnt that they provide FREE electric what a treat! We had a great welcome with an unbelievable offer on a 2 course dinner for 2 for £12 happy days! Definitely be returning, well done I wish more places would wake up to the demand out there for motor homers.

We have had many special occasions and meals with friends and family at the Wheatsheaf whenever we visit my husband's family in the Midlands. The service and food is always fantastic. Recently, we had a gathering of over 20 people and they happily accommodated us in a grand fashion. Everyone had a wonderful time. We highly recommend this lovely restaurant and their kind staff.

Met with some friends for a Saturday lunch - the service and food was excellent. I hadn't been there for a few years and it was just as friendly as I remember - Julie was an excellent host and even moved tables round for us to give us move space - there were six of us and we all had something different - each meal was well presented and accompanied with home made chips - delicious - we will definitely return .....

Visited The Wheatsheaf for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. First impressions were that the menu was rather limited before I spotted the 2 for £10 list, the specials list and also another specials board on the wall. The service was as good as it gets and the 2 for £10 included 2 courses so I think it was real value for money as the food was delicious well presented and large portions.
The restaurant was reasonably busy and I did think that if it was full it might be a little claustrophobic, perhaps a few less tables would add to the ambience. There is not really a bar type area for after meal relaxation.
This is a place I would definitely visit again and if you are looking for good quality food at attractive prices I would recommend The Wheatsheaf.

Me and my boyfriend came here in December 2013 just on an off chance to try it out. At first I wasn't so sure as the carpark was empty and it didn't seem that busy... But Was I surprised when we got in-- we were greeted straight away and had a pick of any free table.. It was just after Christmas so it was all decorated beautifully...
As for the food- you could tell it was all cooked fresh- it was perfect! (I'm a complete food snob) but I was amazed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We did have pudding (it would be rude not to ;p) that was just as good! So overall out experience was lovely. We have been back a couple of times since and plan to go back this weekend! Highly recommended.

Just turned up for food, a group of friends on the Wednesday evening. Was greated at the door and sorted a table quickly. Was advised on menus and ordered with the friendly waitress. Food came out presented nice n good value for money. Really enjoyed our night with a good atmosphere and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Will definitely return.

Reserved a table for 4 people as a birthday celebration. Was seated on a very small table where one of our party had to be boxed in by the table so that the person on the side next to them could sit squarely at the table. Menu was typical pub food but not much variety we struggled to find something for everyone. One of us ordered a steak and all the trimmings etc only to be told they hadn't got the king prawn skewers so instead they cooked up some prawns in a garlic butter. Then they bought it out to the table with all the trimmings missing so they had to follow them over in small dishes clogging the already small table up further.
The food was nice perhaps a bit small portions but tasty all the same. Then when we asked about a pudding menu, the one single pudding board in the whole of the pub was being used at another table so the foreign waitress (who to be fair did speak good English) had to relay them to us. Again portion size on the puddings was small and they didn't seem that fresh i.e the cheesecake kind of had a dried out skin on it.
All in all quite disappointing for a celebration meal - atmosphere was quite flat in there it didn't feel cosy like you get in other pubs - very open room with a lot of table squashed in.

We went as a group of friends for an lunch time meal . When we arrived there was no one else in andi was apprehensive as this usually means the establishment is not very good however I was surprised. We were advised on the various menus and how they worked there was a wide and varied range to choose from. From sandwiches to Snack meal offers to the normal main course eg steak. I must say that the well done steaks were very well done. However all the meals were served piping hot and presented well. On the whole value for money was excellent could not be faulted. The surroundings were clean and I have no complaints.

Arranged to meet friends here for Lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Excellent quality 'pub food' served promptly by very pleasant Staff who seemed dedicated to the establishment. One of our friends was a little 'picky' but nothing was too much trouble and we were ALL delighted with our meal. We went midweek and they had a special rate of two meals for ten pounds which was excellent value for main meals (not sure about weekend pricing) and we were further pleasantly surprised to be served with properly cooked home-made chips! Not plush but very clean and comfortable and off the main roads, with plentiful parking.

Had a lovely Sunday dinner here, we used the menu where it was 2 three course meals for £21.95. It was very good value and lovely. It was one of the rare days you could sit outside, and it was very relaxing. Food was very well presented, tasted fab and service was brilliant :)

This pub has been taken over recently and has a selection of real ales and a good selection of all other drinks. We had a meal and the steak was beautifully cooked. It is worth going to this pub and every month on a thursday night there is a quiz night. There are many music nights as well. I would recommend this place but it was cold in there and we had to wear our coats. That is the only thing negative i could say.

nice looking pub tucked out of the way...fairly priced ..had a few issues with the bill as the waitress had over charged me because she did not know the menu..not a good start...had to remind her too that I had ordered a tea( which I think was forgotten about).. food was standard...my boyfriend ordered the battered fish which would have been good if they had taken the skin off it..and I had steak n stilton mushy pie with watery frozen veg ...again would have been nice to have had some gravy on it as was very dry.
on a positive note the chips were nice..and the waitress was very polite and they played cool music in the back ground and the decore was very relaxing and modern.
pubs like this must try harder.

Stopped off as it appeared a nice looking Pub.
Nice inside with very cool tables and chairs which lifted it from a normal Pub feel.
Service was warm and friendly service. I too ordered the blue cheese and ale suet pie but they did warn me it would come as a puff pastry top so effectively a beef and ale pie.... But it was very nice. Good quality beef and lots of it. Chips were rustic and nice.
My wife's pizza was a proper Italian style.
Overall an enjoyable meal in a nice pub.
