Saturday afternoon with my sister and brother in law on a hot sunny day. Lots of room to eat inside and the food was delicious. We then sat outside on the raised patio that had beautiful views of the canal. Overall a lovely place to visit.

The Fingerpost Pub has a wonderful waterside location on the canal. The people were very friendly and welcoming. We had one of the best pub meals we've had in many years. The portions were good. Everything was cooked very well. It was a tremendous value as well. We highly recommend it!

Used to come here a lot prior to covid and was always able to get a good tasty gluten free meal but as I had not been for a while and we were planning on revisiting I thought I would give them a call. I asked about the gluten free options and was told they cater for gluten free so I presumed I would have some choice. Upon arrival on the evening there was only one thing labelled gluten free on the menu so thought I would ask about other options and was told there was only the one. The one option was aubergine chilli which although sounds nice I did not fancy as I had already had chilli the night before and also took leftover to work so also had it that day. I went back up the bar and asked if anything could be tweeked to be gluten free and was told that they could do steak and jacket but would be a 40 minute wait. As I was eating with someone else I didn't want to keep them waiting so said I would leave it and just go with the chilli. When the chilli arrived I was very underwhelmed. My cousins fish and chips looked delightful but mine was small and if I am honest was the most bland chilli I had ever had. As it was aubergine it was soft and mushy and as there were no doritos or anything there was no texture and definitely no chilli taste. I left the pub very hungry and had to eat when I got home. I would like to say my cousin thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I can go to most pubs/restaurants now and get a good choice of gluten free food but to only have one choice and zero side options was very poor and I would not be able to return because of this. All any restaurant now needs is a separate fryer for chips etc so not sure why this pub struggles with that. Pub still lovely, views lovely, staff lovely but would definitely not return for food.

Following our weekly walk we arrived at 1.00pm and we were made very welcome, the pub was fairly quiet and were served incredibly well with excellent beer and great reasonably priced food. It was our first visit here but we were well looked after and will.be back again soon.
Made our third visit today following our walk and I can only add that things have not altered from my previous post. The welcome was great the food and drink superb so I cannot add it is a consistently great pub.

Fantastic dog friendly pub, first visit for a pint with my dog, so impressed returned for a family meal with the daughter and grand children, and two seperate visits with my wife and Grace the dog. Great friendly service, food and beers, this is a great place to go, well done the team

Very affordable and best steak I've had in ages, delicious and of really high quality. Highly recommend! Nice area to sit out back and see the river too.

food was absolutely amazing, prices to match. staff were attentive and the food and drinks came out fast. Will 100% come again. highly recommend the belly pork starter!
