I had the misfortune to need a new gearbox earlier this month. After a lot of ringing around and not being able to find the one I needed. I contacted Gary & Claire at Get-Gear Transmissions Ltd where they had one fully reconditioned on the shelf ready to go. The next day I drove 340 miles round trip to exchange my bad box for an amazing freshly reconditioned box. Gary went above and beyond and opening up his business aspecially to get me back on the road considering that he had a lot of important things to sort out at home.. also gave me some cash back towards my fuel costs having had a long journey. I would recommend contacting Gary and Claire at Get-Gear Transmissions Ltd.

Had a whine on my transporter rang Gary he gave me advice befor trying to just sell me a gearbox gary not only sells the best gearboxes about but his honesty and trust speaks for itself so payed a visit told me everything I need to know had the new box fitted by my machanic and like a brandnew van carnt thank you enough for all your help and support top man not many genuine people about these days 👍

I managed to lose 5th and 6th gears on my VW T5 transporter the week before I’d planned to go away in the van. Gary was recommended by T5 spares. Contacted Gary who managed to squeeze us in, took my gearbox out and took it to Gary who stripped it infront of me to highlight why it had failed, discussed options (could have easily spent more and bought replacement off the shelf but Gary convinced me the majority of the gearbox was good condition and a rebuild with couple new parts was needed). Gearbox rebuilt the next day and I was kept up to date on progress. A few days after I got the gearbox back in the van Gary called to check everything was ok and we managed to still get away. Exceptional customer service - Get gear transmissions is the only place I trust with gearboxes now. Thanks again.

I had gearbox issues with my mk3 Caddy. I brought it around to Gary without an appointment and he stripped it there and then to show me the issues. Very knowledgeable chap.
He then had the gearbox fixed and ready in under 24hrs. Brilliant!
Even the mechanic was amazed.
I cant recommend Get-Gear enough for going above and beyond to help the customer in time of dire need, and all at a fair price.

Highly recommended! I contacted Gary about a suspected syncromesh fault on my Kia Sportage, straight away he knew what I was talking about and explained that it was a common fault on my gearbox, he then quoted me a fair and reasonable price to get the repair done.
When I dropped the gearbox off to him he was really detailed in exactly what he was going to do, even showed me the parts he was going to replace, he then rang me the same day to tell me it was all finished and ready to collect the following morning, I was amazed it was completed so fast!
When I went to collect, again he was very thorough, showed me the faulty parts he had replaced and even showed me a video of the gearbox stripped down.
I cannot praise and recommend Gary enough, it's not very often you find a trusty mechanic or tradesman but I would recommend him without a shadow of doubt.

firstly I apologise as i hadn’t finished writing and got called away. I purchased a recon T5 gearbox from Gary and Claire last september. the service and time that Gary and Claire put in to make you fully aware of how the transaction works and costs are second to none. from the first enquiry to taking my gearbox in to them. Gary insisted on taking my gearbox apart so i could see what he sees and explains how they should function. even to a lay person like myself, he was thorough and very knowledgeable and went on to explain what needed to be replaced to ensure smooth running . in my case the drive shaft needed replacing. the garage i used said it didn’t. and i just accepted that . 5 months later and sure enough it went. I messaged gary and he pretty much diagnosed the problem over the phone. and even called me out of hours and took the time to explain in further detail. so if you buy a gearbox which i would highly recommend and gary says you need to do XYZ to ensure smooth running . do it !!!! I would recommend anyone to use them. service and aftercare is as important to them as reconditioning your unit

Contacted Claire & gary about my noisy box, spoke on phone very helpful and drove from oxford to see gary where upon he stripped the box down in front of me showing and telling me in detail what was wrong, left it with him and collected the next week, upon fitting it i thought i had messed the gears up as mine are prone to it, called gary again helpfull on the phone, but the next bit will blow your mind.... He drove from his to oxford on a SUNDAY morning!!! - 6 temp and checked the box out with me. Ended up being the gear cables so not the box! If it wouldve been the box my fault or his, he was willing to take it out with me and take back and fix, There is very few people in this world nowadays that would do half the above they just want your money! Dont go anywhere else even if they are cheaper its not worth it, it will cost you more in the long run. GENUINE HONEST RELIABLE COUPLE RUNNING A FAMILY BUSSINESS thank you and best of luck in the future 👍
