Keeping your shower clean and hygienic is necessary but it is also hard work - hopefully these top tips will help:

  1. Grab yourself a pair of rubber gloves
  2. Rinse your shower with warm water including the tiles, walls and floor.  The heat of the water will expand the pores of the surface materials to make it easier to clean.
  3. Soak your shower head in a tub of vinegar to rid the lime scale, leave for a couple of hours before removing the grime from the head.  If the shower head is fixed to the wall, fill a re-sealable plastic bag with vinegar and attach to the shower head with elastic bands. Leave to soak before removing the bag and rinsing.
  4. Spray your shower tiles and floor with a reputable cleaning product leaving for 20 minutes to an hour before rinsing off.  Keep the room well ventilated during this process.
  5. Use an appropriate shower cleaner to rid of mould that has formed in the grouting. After applying the product, leave enough time for it to break down the dirt before giving it a good scrub.
  6. De-clog the drain using an old crotchet hook to fish out hair and other greasy products.  Drain cleaner is perfect for dissolving remaining deposits but please follow drain cleaner instructions clearly.

No-one enjoys cleaning their shower, but QA Bathrooms hopes these tips will make the task less overwhelming.
