If you’ve been considering de-cluttering your home for some time, but you don’t know where to start, we have some great tips to help you make some headway:

  • If you have things of sentiment, you don’t have to throw them out, simply get a large box and store the items in the loft.  Alternatively, find a space in a wardrobe or cupboard where they can live happily every after.
  • If you have items that are in need of repair, set yourself a deadline to get them fixed. If you don’t meet the timescale then throw them out or pass on to somebody else.
  • Create a file or folder for storing important letters, school information etc. so you can find them quickly when needed.
  • Purchase a wicker basket or storage boxes with lids to place toys in at the end of the day.
  • If you’ve out grown clothes, consider passing them on, selling them on auction sites or giving them to Charity. Organise your drawers and wardrobes better so you can find things more easily.
  • Buy a shoe rack and encourage your family to put their shoes on it when they enter the house.  This will prevent them being left in different rooms and causing a trip hazard.
  • Make sure you haven’t over done it with paintings, calendars, photographs and art on your walls.  Take things down that have no sentimental value or redistribute them to other areas of the house.
