If you’re a simple cook that likes convenience, there’s no way you’ll  need all of the latest gadgets, but if you’re an experienced chef who loves to show off your culinary skills, you’re definitely going to need more than a kitchen knife and chopping board.

QA Kitchens in Newport has ten top tips that will make your kitchen work better for you:

  1. Heavy pots and pans should be easily accessible and should be placed next to or underneath your cooker.
  2. Don’t put food and non-food items in the same cupboard.  It is much more hygienic to keep them separate.
  3. Line up bottles and tins, it will make you see what you have and what you need to buy next time you go shopping.
  4. If you have an awkward cupboard and no carousel, make your own using two plastic boxes, one in the corner and one in the front.  Put pots and pans you rarely use in there.
  5. When planning your kitchen from scratch, make certain you incorporate lots of space for recycling – there’s nothing worse than having it littering your kitchen floor.
  6. If you’re struggling for cupboard space, utilise your walls with utensil holders, plate holders etc.
  7. If you enjoy spices, store them at low level and use a marker to write on the top of the spice so you can see exactly what they are.
  8. Adjust your shelf heights to suit your needs.  Don’t struggle trying to squash things in.
  9. If you don’t have much space, don’t buy bulky items.
  10. You can still have things to hand by storing things in a wall cupboard instead of a work surface.

Go for it, de-clutter and get organised!!!
