A new soft play centre in TelfordĀ outlines five benefits of soft play sessions for children with special education needs or disabilities.

Play is a great release for all children, but sensory play particularly allows children to engage with their environment, develop social skills, language and learn. For a child with special educational needs, their ability to learn in the same way as other children is affected. This is why the specially adapted play area at Pirates and Princesses Adventure Zone Ltd in Telford are so proud of their facilities.

Here are 5 reasons why sensory play is beneficial:

  1. Children with special educational needs and disabilities often respond better to tactile or sensory learning; therefore this is more beneficial to their individual development.
  2. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
  3. Sensory play aids a child's memory development, enabling the child to better retain information
  4. Sensory play is great for calming an fretful or upset child
  5. Social relationships become more natural if children are engaged in sensory play.

Not only are the children stimulated and encourage in a positive manner, the parents and carers are able to make use of a superb facility with great benefits for the child; they also get a bit of rest bite too because the staff at Pirates and Princesses are able to support the parents or carers.
