Lee a third year student studying Computer Networking and Security carried out his university work placement at Rockford last year and continues to work two days a week during his studies.
When beginning his placement at Rockford Lee had hoped to learn a lot from the experience. All of this exceeded his expectations as he went on to gain an extensive amount of knowledge, had a massive confidence boost and increased his understanding of working in the ‘real world’ which is an aspect of university which lacks.
Lee added “It has been a great experience at Rockford IT, not only have I improved my knowledge technically over my time here, I have also made some good friends and look forward to my future at Rockford!”
Liam a second year student studying Network Computing is half way through his placement year. He didn’t plan on doing a placement year however after starting at Rockford he is happy to have added to his skill set and to have gained a new experience. Liam expanded on this, “I have only been here 4 months and I already feel like I have earned a year’s worth of experience.”
Going into the placement Liam didn’t have any expectations but now understands studying at university doesn’t give a true representation of working in ‘real’ life, whereas Rockford have been able to offer that. He has learnt a lot which he will be able to take back to university next year to help with his studies.
Both university students thoroughly enjoy working at Rockford and say that “they feel part of the team.” The placement has given them a both a good sense of what they want to do in their career and would definitely recommend to any other students considering a placement at Rockford.
