Couples who have just got engaged are expected to flock to the Best Western Valley Hotel in Ironbridge to get some inspiration for their wedding day and find out about the unique packages.

The bridal fair will be held on Sunday (September 15) from 11am to 4pm.

It is expected to attract a record number of exhibitors with special offers just for visitors to the event.

Lisa Snape, sales manager at the hotel in Buildwas Road, said:

"Every year we get some unusual requests but this year we thought we'd beat the bride to it and put some unique packages together which includes the cruise on the River Severn for just the bride and groom or for the full wedding party"

"Trends also change every year, along with the colours and fashions, and next year is certainly going to be the year of Afternoon Tea - so we are offering that too"

"Many couples do not want the formal wedding breakfast but do want to make use of the terrace and enjoy a vintage themed wedding with fine china and afternoon tea for their guests. It is important for us that brides and grooms are given as much choice as possible when planning their wedding day"

Mrs Snape who has worked at the hotel for 20 years said couples aboard the boat would have a brilliant view of the Iron Bridge and enjoy some very special photograph opportunities.

"Nearly every bride and groom stop off at the bridge for a photo in front of the iconic Iron Bridge from the road but now they could sail under it and have a photo with it over head - this could be the most intimate moment if they wish or something they shared with the bridal party" she said.

The wedding fair will boast exhibitors including cake makers, wedding photographers, jewellery and accessory designers.

Mrs Snape said:

"The Best Western Valley hotel is a superb location for weddings with its setting in the World Heritage Site and proved very popular for people to tie the knot over the last 21 years. It has a great atmosphere and experienced staff are committed to ensuring that weddings run smoothly. Now, we have looked very carefully at how we can improve what we offer to couples and have come up with the range of new offers"
