Gearing up for Barbecue season

Now that winter is over and the sun is shining, it is time for the barbecues to come out - but how clean is your barbecue?  Is it ready to use?

Woody Wood Products in Telford offer six simple steps to cleaning your barbecue making it cleaner, healthier and ready to cook on:

  • Put the grill in place and get your barbecue to full heat.
  • Put the lid on and leave for 15 to 20 minutes.  This will bake off grime and food particles allowing you to clean the BBQ grill much easier.
  • Wait the barbecue to cool down, then remove the grills.  Wash down the bars with warm soapy water and products specifically designed for barbecues.  Multipurpose cleaners are also great.
  • Rinse the bars and dry straight away.  Rubbing vegetable oil on the bars will prevent rusting.
  • When cleaning drip trays, wash in soapy water also.  A great tip following cooking is to soak up grease using cat litter, if not pour cold grease into the bin and not down the sink.
  • Dust down the inside of your barbecue with a steel brush.  If the burners have food stuck in them, check manufacturer's instructions for the best way to remove it. Make sure the barbecue is turned off and cool before you attempt anything.

Barbecue cleaning doesn't have to be a daunting job, so grab yourself a drink, turn on some music and get cleaning ensuring everything is grime free!
