We will miss Clive Dunn, the comic master who specialised in playing much older characters than himself.
He was absolutely brilliant playing the doddering old corporal Jones with his bandy legs and memorable catch phrases.
It was much debated at the BBC before Jonesy was allowed to say "they don't like it up-em". A brave move in those days but definitely the right decision.
We all remamber the catch phrases don't we - "permission to speak sir" "Don't panic!" "They don't like it up-em"
Corporal Jones was supposed to be in his 70's but surprisingly Clive Dunn was only 48 when he appeared for the first time as corporal Jones.
Many of the actors considered for this part were actually old and reaching the end of their careers. For Clive Dunn this was just the start of a wonderful carreer catapulted into the lime light by this brilliant British comedy.
But even before Clive Dunns appearance in Dad's Army brought him widespread fame, the music hall veteran had specialised in brilliantly playing lovable old men.
Old age seemed to suit him and even saw him hit top of the pops with 'Grandad'
Sit back for 10 minutes and watch and remember that great British comedian - Clive Dunn.
RIP Clive Dunn
