Taunton Farmers Market can be found every Thursday from 9am to 2pm in the High Street in Taunton. It has withstood the pandemic and is thriving, the stall holders are there year round, whatever the weather, ready to sell you some of the best local food, meat, vegetables, cheese and handmade goods that you could wish for.

Their ethos is simple:  Local, Fresh, Quality.  And, it shows.  The stalls are bustling with people and they return because the produce is top quality, produced locally by local farmers, artisans, and makers who bring their goods to market to cut out the middle man and serve you direct.  For several years the Farmers Market has won the Gold in Taste of the West Best Farmers’ Market category, a testament to how hard the producers work, year-round, to bring you the very best in local food.

The food miles are negligible, the produce is harvested or baked or made fresh for the day and you can shop with ease.  There is less packaging to go in the bin when you get home and most stallholders are actively trying to be more sustainable in every way.  Take your own bags and shop til you drop.

You can find makers of all types here, and the Farmers Market has something for everyone.  At the markets, you can find just-picked seasonal fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, free-range and organic meat and eggs, a wide selection of regional cheeses, chutneys, and preserves, hand-made bread, and cakes, even hand make chocolate & many more local specialties – things you can’t always expect to find in supermarkets.

You can taste test many of the goods for sale before you buy and be guided by the stall holders who are knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about their goods.

Go this Thursday and take a look at what’s on display, I guarantee you will come home with something good.
