Best time to go is in the spring, when all the colourful spring plants/flowers are out in full bloom, if you go in the school holidays there is usually something to do for the children. well worth a visit if you like well tended gardens & piece `n` quiet!!+

The gradual restoration of this extraordinary fantasy garden has been a delight to watch over the years. A pleasant walk with points of interest along the way makes it a great outing for families, friends or alone. The formal Gertrude Jekyll gardens have a different but equal charm.

A gem in the countryside. Beautiful grounds to walk around. Even the kids enjoyed it -grudgingly.

A beautiful visit but personally it's not especially worth the admission fee. There are so many delights I can see for free with my national trust card.

Gorgeous gardens - all year round. We love to walk the dogs and then enjoy a delicious lunch in the cosy Stables Restaurant or in the sunshine of the Courtyard. It's such a happy place with lots sorts going on to suit all interests. We go to the Autumn and Christmas markets every year and adore the atmosphere at both. This year we went to a friend's wedding at Hestercombe and it was truly magical!"

I had lunch at Hestercombes cafe. It was absolutely gorgeous, their home made tomato chutney turned my cheese sandwich into an absolute delight and the chocolate pudding was heaven. Lovely walk afterwards in the gardens too.

I love taking my son to Hestercombe. There is so much space for him to enjoy and I get to enjoy the tranquility of the gardens at the same time!
