We went here after quite a long time as our grandchildren were taking part in an activity.

We had been to hestercombe before many years ago. Lovely gardens which are not absolutely wheelchair friendly but it very definitely is dog friendly. They even had dog icecream!! Had a restaurant with limited snack type menu with good size portions. Parking was easy but you do need a sat nav which may take you to a farm look out for the brown tourist signs when you get closer

Gorgeous parkland gardens. Wonderful views across Taunton Deane. Helpful and friendly staff. Super cafe that accommodates four legged friends and even sells doggy ice cream. Very good plant section which is run by a very knowledgeable lady.

Visited Hestercombe with elderly but very capable mother and two sons (15 and 11). We are frequent visitors and come several times a year. Disappointed with the number of dogs both in the woodland garden and formal garden. Surely they shouldn’t be in the formal garden? Dog poo on some of the paths in the woodland garden. No sign of bins. Dogs also roaming off lead. Not acceptable.
Gardens looked good and many flowers out in bloom. Beautiful views over Vale of Taunton.
Ate in courtyard cafe. Staff seemed unable to cope and were very slow.

Came here with my Nan for a cream tea on a sunny Sunday. The scones, sandwiches and cakes were delicious and very well presented. The staff were also excellent and attentive. Going for a walk afterwards around the beautifully kept gardens tops it off, would definitely recommend. Isn't "cheap" but you get what you paid for.

Aside from the obvious, the gardens and grounds, I was really impressed by the small outdoor eatery. Nothing fancy, nothing posh but the food flavor and preparation were not just out of this world, they were inter-stella. A side portion of chips were to die for, and how anyone can tease such a taste from something simple like sardines on toast? The chef has achieved GENIUS status.Oh, nearly forgot the Espresso was also first class.

Lovely helpful staff but it's a hard push round for disabled visitors on rough paths. It's peaceful and quiet so if you take children and expect them to be entertained every two seconds you will be disappointed. An adult venue perhaps. The house itself is work in progress; this does not have the flim-flam of a Blenheim, nor are the gardens as extensive as Heligan. But for a peaceful stroll you could do far worse

It’s not cheap to enter Hestercombe Garden but you can understand the price when you see how much has to be maintained. Under 5,s are free so we only paid for one adult and one child.
The formal gardens are just beautiful.
The grounds and facilities are clean and tidy.
The staff are helpful and most importantly happy.
The brilliant bug day hosted by the RSPB was great, lots to do and a brilliant bug hunt that the children absolutely loved.

Hestercombe gardens is a little paradise in Somerset, when you are there you forget you are so close to civilisation. There are so many paths and views. You can take scooter (well the kids can) or walk. One of the highlights are the regular trails at Easter or Christmas. The kids love them and I rather enjoy them too.
There are waterfalls, manicured gardens and fish... although stay clear of the grumpy swan. I would definitely recommend a Santa visit at Christmas although booking well ahead is advised.
The tea room serves either meals or snacks and something for the kids. All tasty and well made. The shop is really lovely too with a great choice of plants to buy.
My only grumble is the annual membership price. There is an introductory price and then it gets higher. I would love to be remain a member but the second renewal price is rather high. I wonder whether it would be worth rewarding members who renew with a consistent price? I know it is about maintaining the gardens but you would probably get more members and more overall funds coming in.

Tranquil and baeutiful, spend some hours just wandering at Hestercombe. Took Bongo the trusty cocker spaniel and he loved the waterful, the chickens wandering free ( Bongo was on a lead), the witches house, and formal gardens - all magical. The tearoom is scrumptdiddlyumptios as well ! Wonderful scones. Escape from 2018 to when life was slower and bask in it.

Well worth the journey. Stunning orangery pavilion. Wonderful colour and contrast in the formal gardens despite the hot summer. Recommended for the structure as well as the planting.

We enjoyed walking around the grounds here, there is a great walk, which is a little hilly, but it has various things to stop and look at on the way round. We were looking forward to going into the house, and we were disappointed that it did not have more historical features inside. There was a contemporary art exhibition, which we enjoyed looking at anyway. The 2nd hand book shop is great, and we found a couple of great books, if you have time to look though them all.

Having read an earlier review that commented on the lack of flowers I am pleased to announce that the Jeckyll Garden is full of them (as is the Dutch Garden). Maybe a week makes a difference (we visited on 14/8). We really enjoyed our day here, the volunteers were welcoming and very informative and the Gardens and views were stunning. Considering the history, that it is run by a trust mostly on love and that the dry, hot weather has wreaked havoc with Gardens generally this year, we thought the Gardens were exceptionally well kept.
We happened (by accident) to go on a Terrific Tuesday and whilst we didn’t have any children with us we really enjoyed watching the sack racing and the games on the lawn. It was great to see children playing properly rather than being stuck in front of a screen.

My wife and I visited Hestercombe today and enjoyed the gardens, cafe and shop. I had seen signs for Hestercombe in Taunton, but had never been before. My wife is disabled, and we were delighted to find that she could hire a Tramper all terrain mobility scooter, enable her to easilly access the wonderful gardens. I am not a great garden visitor (unlike my wife) but must say I really liked Hestercombe. We also made use of the cafe and enjoyed the food there.

We went to visit today specially for the Terrific Tuesdays Sports Day. The whole day was great from the organisation of the races (the guys from 1610 were truly fantastic) to the sporty crafts and the garden games. We had a little wander round the gardens which were beautiful and the views over the rolling hills were astonishing. Cafe looked good and the menu looked healthy and a wide range of choices, we didn’t eat there though as we took a picnic but stopped for drinks.
