Even with a history of glaucoma in the family, I can't remember the last time I got my eyes tested. So when I visited Malcolm Gray & Associates, I was really impressed at the level of care and service that they provide.
I underwent several tests including Field of Vision - which can help detect glaucoma and even brain tumours. Next was OCT (optical coherence tomography) which is almost like an ultrasound scan for the eye. and provides a detailed layered image of your eye and can show early signs of macular degeneration. Fascinating Stuff!
Then there was the standard eye test that most opticians will provide, to see if a prescription for glasses is required. During the whole process, each action was explained and talked through, such as alignment, focussing power and close us vision. Of course I had to be the customer with one long sighted and one short sighted eye!
But even with this in mind, I wasn't forced to have glasses and was instead recommended to return only if I had any noticable issues, if they occured before the recommended two year return check up.
The final test was for pressure, which detects glaucoma - different to usual tests using a jet of air into the eye, this was simply some eyedrops and a light shone in at various angles and not uncomfortable at all.
All told, the appointment took 45 minutes and was extremely professional and explanatory. I felt totally at ease and have complete trust in the advice that was given.
If anyone asks, you should definitely have gone to Malcolm Gray and Associates!
