The League of Friends for John Taylor Hospice has joined forces with the hospice to raise funds and awareness of the centre’s services.

Founded more than 40 years ago, the League of Friends is a volunteer group which has held events and funded support for patients from days out to essential equipment such as freezers and cookers.

The hospice, based in Sutton Coldfield, and the League of Friends have been separate charities but are joining forces to ensure a more coordinated approach.

John Taylor Hospice chief executive, Penny Venables, said: “For decades the volunteers who make up the League of Friends have given their time and energies to supporting our patients and we are incredibly grateful for that support.

“With John Taylor Hospice being a charity and needing to fundraise on a much larger scale it makes sense for the League of Friends to join our hospice team. We look forward to working together on lots of brilliant projects in the years ahead.”

League of Friends chair Sue Jones said: “Combining our skills and energy will hopefully mean increased fundraising and awareness for the hospice which in turn will benefit the hundreds of patients and their families who are supported by John Taylor Hospice every year.

“Joining with the hospice ensures the legacy of the founders of the League of Friends continues into the future.”
