Sabr- Patience

SABR…

They say it means patience,

But patience feels too gentle a word

For the weight my heart has carried.

Sabr is learning how to breath

When grief sits heavy on your chest,

When memories echo louder than voices,

And silence becomes your hardest test.

I have known loss that reshaped my soul,

Loss that time could never erase

My mother gone after 41 years of love,

A guiding light I can never replace.

And a child..my niece

Only three years old

A life just learning how to begin

Taken before the world could witness, the brighteness that lived within,

What name do you give to a pain like that?

What words could possible explain..

How the heart learns to keep beating

While carrying oceans of deep pain?

For me.. sabr was crying when no one can see,

Yet still having to stand when your legs feel weak

It is searching for strength in shattered prayers

Even when you no longer know how to speak.

There were days when the sky felt dark and dull

When hope felt distant and very small

When questions filled the empty space

And days went by where I couldn’t recognise my own face.

Eight long years of feeling lost,

Eight longer years of learning to stand alone,

And those eight years of fighting silent battles

That the world around me has never known.

BUT SABR WHISPERED to my soft gentle soul:

Be patient my dear, focus on the end goal.

It told me that I am stronger than what I endure

That what is written for me cannot even miss me

And that what leaves me was never mine to secure.

Sabr is not pretending the pain is light

It is being able to carry it, still choosing to rise

It is about trusting that behind every tear,

There is wisdom that we cannot yet recognise.

Because sometimes strength is not to be loud

Sometimes courage does not want to shout

Sometimes victory is just simply waking up

And everyday choosing not to give up.

If I did not hold onto sabr,

I would not be standing here today.

It carried me through broken moments

When everything else slipped away.

Sabr taught me that loss does not end us,
it shapes the depth of who we become,
that even people who have heaviest of hearts
can still find the strength to heal and overcome.

So if your world feels shattered,
if grief has taken what you adore,
know that sabr does not erase the pain
but it helps you become something more.

For after every storm in life comes a stage of calm,
and after every night comes a silent dawn,
and those we love are never truly gone
their presence is here and their light in our hearts still lives on.

Sabr is not just patience.
It is survival and with your faith still being alive,

Sabr is falling apart multiple times in a thousand pieces
yet somehow continuing to wake up and continuing to survive.
