The Belfry gifts hotel breaks to 20 NHS workers

The Belfry Hotel & Resort, located near Sutton Coldfield, is gifting 20 NHS workers and their families a complimentary break once restrictions are lifted.

The resort has joined the UK-wide campaign ‘Operation Recuperation’ to offer NHS workers a free VIP overnight break with their loved ones to say thank you for their dedication and sacrifice in the fight against covid-19.

Chris Eigelaar, resort general manager at The Belfry said: “We are proud to join Operation Recuperation and support our healthcare heroes. It is just one way we can show our appreciation to the incredible NHS staff and say thank you for their extraordinary efforts as they risk their lives to fight the virus.

“We are looking forward to treating them to a well-deserved relaxing and luxurious break once we are able to reopen.”

Operation Recuperation was started in March 2020 by Rachel Sherwood as a way of providing healthcare workers with a light at the end of the covid-19 tunnel.

Having already received pledges for complimentary stays from over 120 donors, the operation will cover areas across the UK, to Spain, India and Barbados and is set to benefit 350 NHS workers

Rachel said: “We’re so grateful to The Belfry Hotel & Resort for this superb donation.  It’s located in the heart of the country means it’s within a short drive of so many NHS staff who have suffered through the worst of the pandemic and they all deserve a break.

“Being able to gift 20 of them and their loved ones a stay in this luxurious resort will make such a difference.”

The NHS staff who will benefit from stays at The Belfry work at some of the hardest-hit hospitals in the area, including Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands and Good Hope in Birmingham, Fairfield General in Bury, Manchester Royal Infirmary and John Radcliffe in Oxford.

The Belfry has a number of safety measures in place, meeting the highest standards for cleanliness procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and guests, while still offering the same welcome and memorable experiences that guests have come to love and know.
