The Government’s ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ scheme launches on Monday – with a number of Sutton Coldfield venues taking part.
The initiative, announced by the Chancellor in his summer statement, enables diners to get a discount of 50 per cent (up to a maximum of £10 per person) on food and drinks when eating in at participating venues.
Alcohol and service charges are not included in the offer.
The promotion is valid on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and there is no limit on the amount of times it can be used between the launch date and the end of the scheme on 31 August.
Participating restaurants will deduct the discount off the bill and claim it back from the government.

Businesses will be able to register for the scheme right up until the closing date on the 31 August.
To be eligible for the scheme, businesses must have access to a dining or drinking area and have registered with their local authority prior to 8 July.
The government will reimburse participating businesses for the discount within 5 working days of a claim being made. Businesses will be able to claim reimbursements from the 7 August until the 30 September.

Paul Faulkner, chief executive of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “The hospitality sector plays an important role in the local economy and has been one of the hardest hit sectors since the lockdown measures were introduced in March.
“The sector, which is one of the biggest employers in the country, has seen the highest proportion of workers placed on the government’s furlough scheme totalling 1.4 million workers.
“While it has been pleasing to see our members in the hospitality industry begin to reopen their doors over the past month, it is clear that they are operating in a very challenging environment with many venues constrained by social distancing which prevents them from operating at full capacity.
“The ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme will hopefully provide a much needed shot in the arm to the industry over the next month and I would urge any hospitality businesses that have yet to sign up to the initiative to consider doing so.
“It is vital that we all play our part where we can in supporting this crucial industry throughout this difficult period and I would encourage everyone to check out the fantastic bars and restaurants that the Greater Birmingham area has to offer.”
