Sutton Coldfield people will be able to get their Wills written for free in return for a charity donation in a campaign supported by local solicitors over two weeks next month (October).

Two firms of solicitors based in Sutton and Four Oaks, are taking part in ‘Make Your Will Fortnight’, organised by St Giles Hospice between 7th-18th October, 2019.

During those two weeks, the solicitors will donate their time and expertise for free to help clients make a new Will or update their existing Will. All clients have to do is make a suggested donation to St Giles Hospice of £100-£150, depending on the type of Will which is being created.

The solicitors taking part are: Enoch Evans, of 5 Emmanuel Court, 2 Mill Street, Sutton Coldfield, B72 1TJ, tel: 0121 355 2336;

Woollastons Solicitors, of 331 Jockey Road, Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, B73 5XE, tel: 0121 355 5516;

Woollastons Solicitors, of Austin Court, 64 Walsall Road, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, B74 4QY, tel: 0121 308 4030.

All of the proceeds from the campaign will be donated to St Giles Hospice, which cares for local people and their families living with a potentially incurable illness.

Elinor Eustace, Director of Fundraising at St Giles Hospice, said that one in six patients at the hospice were cared for through legacy gifts made in Wills.

“St Giles is always keen to encourage people to make plans for the future - through discussions with their family, advanced care planning, lasting power of attorney and making a Will,” she said.

“Writing a Will ensures that your family know what your wishes are, about your plans for your belongings and about funeral arrangements if you choose to include them. It can spare your loved ones from having to make important or complicated decisions at a distressing time.

“We’re very grateful to all of the solicitors who take part in ‘Make Your Will Fortnight’ for their support. Last year the campaign raised over £10,000 for St Giles Hospice. We hope we can raise even more this October.

“It costs £10 million each year to provide our care and little more than a third of that comes from NHS funding. This means that we really depend on donations from the local community and gifts in Wills to continue our work.

“Making a Will through a firm of solicitors means you get qualified legal advice from someone who can ensure you protect your loved ones and who can suggest effective estate planning to meet your requirements.”
