The festive season has started as the Christmas lights have now been switched on. Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council is proud to fund the festive lights and Christmas trees across our Royal Town.

There are over 230 light displays lighting up the town and local centres to spark festive cheer for residents and visitors.

The festive period is a significant time for local shops. The Town Council aims to support traders and businesses during this key time by driving footfall to the town centre, as well as creating a vibrant and magical atmosphere for the community.

The Festive Lights follows the launch of the ‘free parking, bus travel and cycle hire scheme’ which is running from 13 November 2025 – 04 January 2026. The free parking applies on Thursdays from 4pm and Fridays from 4pm, with parking free all day on Saturdays and Sundays. The offer is available at the following car parks: Station Street, Upper and Lower Reddicroft, Mill Street, Anchorage Road, South Parade and Duke Street.

Cllr Simon Ward leader of the Town Council said “I’m pleased to see that the Town Council is continuing to support our town centre through initiatives such as the Festive Lights and Festive Travel Scheme. It outlines our commitment to supporting local businesses and traders and will help attract more people to the town, as well as making it easier and smoother for shoppers to travel during the busiest time of year. “

All the lights in the scheme are energy-efficient LEDs, producing brighter light with less heat and significantly lower energy consumption than traditional bulbs.
