6 Sutton Coldfield GCSE and A level students conquered the 3 National Peaks Challenge. The 3 Peaks Challenge is a challenge pursued by many every year to conquer the 3 highest peaks in our 3 nations within the shortest time possible.  These peaks are, Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the English Lake District and Snowdon in Wales.

Matt Keeling (15), Charlie Churchill (16), Reinart Jensema (16), Sam Woodcock (16), Segert Jensema (18) and Josh Woodcock (18) started their journey in Scotland and the team slowly worked their way down to Wales. After camping for the night on the banks of the beautiful Loch Leven, near Glencoe, the team set off on their quest at 3pm on the Saturday. The next challenge was Scafell Pike, which they scaled at 3am the next morning and their quest for Snowdon began at 2.15pm on Sunday afternoon and they completed their whole challenge by 6 pm that evening.

Overall, the goal is to complete the whole challenge within 24 hours, however this is very much dependent on the driving conditions. This team managed to do it 27 hours, but walked for less than 12 hours, which was a great achievement.

The team members mentioned that they really enjoyed the experience and were proud they made it in such a great time. Reinart Jensema mentioned that they were all beautiful walks, however he would love to come back to each of the mountains to have more time there to really enjoy them.
