Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID has successfully claimed and accessed the first in a series of grants to benefit the town centre.

The first phase of the deep clean of the streets took place recently on the Parade, and was funded by ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) Welcome Back Fund.

The cleaning work will continue into Spring 2022.

Mark Jones, development director at Ramora, who are carrying out the deep clean, explained: “Our team worked hard to help Sutton Coldfield BID stick to their clean and green principles. By using the right combination of steam pressure and temperature, we can provide fantastic results without the need for chemicals.

“Our motto is that ‘you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression’, so we are proud to regularly carry out street cleaning services close to home on behalf of Sutton Coldfield BID.”

Angela Henderson, chair of Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID, added: “A key role of the BID is to apply for grants and utilise them efficiently during the required time frames.  This is the first of a series of grants we hope to access for the good of the town centre.

“Sutton Coldfield BID works hard to promote the area and local businesses, helping to encourage more visitors to benefit the town. Regular street cleaning services can play a big part in making the town look much more presentable and inviting.

“Whilst the Parade is a pedestrian area, footfall can be very high throughout the week, so the walkways quickly grow dirty and discoloured.

“The BID is committed to making sure the paved areas within the district are cleaned at least once a year, with some areas, including the Parade, receiving more intense deep cleaning as a result of heavier footfall.”
