Seventy students from The Coleshill School took part in the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership’s Children’s University Gold Graduation ceremony at Birmingham University.

It was the Sutton Coldfield-based ATLP’s first university event, with parents proudly watching as their children, dressed in red cap and gowns, received awards in recognition of their dedication to extra-curricular learning activities.

The Coleshill School had 70 Gold Award winners, achieving over a 100 hours of learning activities.

Students received awards ranging from Gold Undergraduate for 100 learning hours to Gold Postgraduate certificate for achieving more than 600 hours.

The awards ceremony featured dance performances and students speaking about their Children’s University journey.

The Children’s University Trust provides five to 14 year olds with innovative learning activities and experiences outside school hours.

The passport to learning has been created where students collect stamps for hours of accredited learning which contribute to the award of a certificate.

Mrs Kirkwood, Children's University coordinator, said: “It was a fabulous event in a beautiful setting and we were all inspired by the location.

“We are so proud of our students and what they have achieved.  The only challenge was re-locating their caps after they were all thrown in the air in celebration on the university grounds!”
