Rising stars of Sutton Coldfield are invited to kickstart their careers and take to the stage at the Royal Town’s annual Month of Music festival this July.

Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID has announced that applications are now open for the much-loved celebration, which will return to the town centre with a packed calendar of live performances.

Now in its third year, budding musicians and bands can get involved by either performing as part of the festival’s main line-up or by competing in its coveted competition, Sutton Has Musical Talent.

Taking place on Saturday 27 July, the competition, has two categories, one open to 13 to 18-year olds and a second for those over 18. Hopefuls will perform live at Bishops Court, outside House of Fraser in the Gracechurch Shopping Centre, in front of a panel of local judges.   The talented winners will win the incredible prize of a day at local recording studio, Priory Studios, where they can record, mix and master a song, as well as a host of vouchers to spend throughout town centre venues and retailers. Performances will also take place in a host of venues throughout the month, including Brewhouse & Kitchen, Coffee #1 and Pizza Express.

Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID Manager, said: “We are thrilled to announce the return of Sutton Coldfield’s Month of Music. Both the festival itself and Sutton Has Musical Talent provide talented local musicians with an incredible platform to launch their career, with previous winners going on to perform on the likes of Brum Radio and BBC WM.

“We are committed to bringing a wide range of events to the town centre throughout the year, from Sutton Coldfield Food Festival to Expo, and the Month of Music brings an unmissable month of live performances for the whole community to enjoy.   “Having seen an outstanding level of talent last year, we’re very much looking forward to welcoming more fantastic applicants this year, and can’t wait to discover Sutton Coldfield’s next big thing,” he added.

To apply to take part in this year’s Month of Music or Sutton Has Musical Talents, entrants should email a video or a link to their website using either ‘play at venue’ or ‘SHMT’ as the subject line.

Applications should be sent to justine.longmore@suttoncoldfieldtowncentre.co.uk by Friday 12 July 2019.
