Chamber members came out in force for the inaugural Retro Games, which has been hailed a success.

Taking place at the Coppice lifestyle and food destination in Middleton near Sutton Coldfield, the Retro Games was an afternoon of team-building and competition featuring old sports day favourites such as hula-hoops and space-hoppers, egg-and-spoon and three-legged races, and more.

The Retro Games events are run by Dennis Kennedy and his team from the Community Games, who seek to inspire people to try new activities and encourage them to lead healthy active lives.

Dennis worked with Anna Plotnek of brand partner PLOTT and marketing consultant Katie Hale to develop the idea for the Retro Games.

He said: “Sports and games bring communities together through physical and social activity, creating a legacy of fitness and belonging.

“We wanted the business community to benefit from our events too, by trying a variety of activities. There's always something fun for everyone.“

Teams on the day included the Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce and some of its member businesses such as Coppice, PLOTT and BMET College.

They were joined by other local businesses including  Align Architecture, TM Ware and overall winners Aspire Sports.

Anna Plotnek said: “Team Plotters had a great afternoon, maintaining competitiveness throughout and walking away with the award for best fancy dress. Who could ask for more?

“I’m really proud to have helped launch the Retro Games with this event, and am very much looking forward to more events across other Chambers.”

Proceeds raised from the event will go into supporting the work of the Community Games.
