The event, now in its third year, will take place on Friday 17 July at Walmley Golf Club, bringing together members of the business community for a day of golf, networking, and fundraising in support of an organisation.
Organised by local fundraising consultant Brian Davies, the charity golf day has established itself as a highlight in the local business calendar.
The Cancer Support Centre, based in Sutton Coldfield, offers a wide range of holistic support services to individuals living with cancer, as well as their families and carers.
These include counselling, complementary therapies, wellbeing sessions, and peer support groups – all designed to help people navigate the emotional and physical challenges that cancer can bring.
Crucially, the Centre receives no government funding, meaning that events like this play a vital role in ensuring it can continue to deliver its services.
Event organiser and fundraising consultant Brian Davies said: “The Cancer Support Centre provides an incredible level of care and support to people at one of the most challenging times in their lives.
“What makes it even more remarkable is that they receive no government funding, and rely heavily on fundraising events like this to keep their services running.
“Every pound raised on the day will make a genuine difference, helping to ensure that local people affected by cancer can access the support they need, when they need it most.”
Teams of four (fourballs) can enter at a cost of £400, which includes a breakfast roll and refreshments on arrival, a full round of golf and a two-course meal to round off the day.
There will also be a range of on-course competitions, including Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive, as well as a special ‘Hole-in-One’ challenge where golfers can win £10,000 on the signature 18th hole.
Sponsorship opportunities are available, including hole sponsorship, offering companies valuable visibility on the day while demonstrating their commitment to supporting the local community.
In addition, organisers are seeking donations of raffle prizes, which will help to maximise fundraising on the day.
Brian Davies added: “One of the most powerful aspects of this event is seeing the local business community come together to support such an important cause. Whether it’s entering a team, sponsoring a hole, or donating a raffle prize, every contribution really does count.
“We’re incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received over the past two events, and we’re hoping to make this year’s Charity Golf Day the biggest and most impactful yet.”
