The funding will allow Our Place Support to continue and strengthen delivery across Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Kingstanding and Castle Vale.

For the past nine years, the Our Place Support Advice Service has provided trusted, person-centred support to residents, helping people navigate financial hardship, housing insecurity and the rising cost of living. This new funding secures the future of the service.

Supporting people when they need it most

The Our Place Support Advice Service offers free guidance and practical support focused on income maximisation, benefits and grants, housing advice, homelessness prevention and cost-of-living support.

While the service is open to anyone living in North Birmingham, Our Place Support prioritises engaging individuals who may struggle to access support elsewhere due to poverty, disability, poor physical or mental health, digital exclusion, social isolation or complex life circumstances.

A whole-person approach

Our Place Support take a whole-person approach, recognising that financial insecurity, housing issues, poor mental health and social isolation are often interconnected.

Alongside practical advice, the service provides inclusive social opportunities such as coffee mornings and with the new funding will be organising social events, helping individuals rebuild confidence, reduce loneliness and develop support networks.

Kelly Round, CEO of Our Place Support said“Securing this funding is a fantastic outcome for us here at Our Place Support. It gives our advice service the stability needed to continue supporting local people through some of the most challenging times and ensures this vital support remains available across North Birmingham for years to come.”

Looking ahead

Alongside this funding, Our Place Support is committed to strengthening the long-term sustainability of the service. Over the lifetime of the project, the organisation will increase investment in its accredited training programmes, delivering mentoring and safeguarding training to professionals nationally. Income generated through this work will directly support the continuation of the advice service, meaning that professionals accessing training are also helping to sustain vital community support across North Birmingham.
