A new independent comic book, manga and games shop with its own retro arcade is opening at Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre.
Ceolmund’s Dungeon, founded by Ellen Mills, will create a new creative and playful space for the local community.
The shop will celebrate its official opening with a free, family-friendly launch party on Saturday 31 October, from 12pm to 4pm.
The event will include a cosplay and fancy-dress competition with prizes, free play on the retro arcade cabinets, free tabletop gaming, trading card sessions and a DJ. No booking is needed, although visitors can reserve a place on Eventbrite.
Located opposite the indoor markets, it will stock comics, manga, tabletop games and trading cards, alongside retro arcade cabinets for visitors of all ages. Inside, the shop features a mural by Just Names UK.
The shop is named after Ceolmund (pronounced "chel-mund"), the Saxon figure at the heart of the legend behind the name Chelmsley Wood.
Shop founder Ellen Mills, said: "We want Ceolmund's Dungeon to be a place where people of all ages can be creative, playful and part of a community.
“Young people in particular will have somewhere welcoming to go, and we hope the shop will bring a little more life to the area.
“Chelmsley Wood has a wonderful story, and we're proud to be building on it."
Ceolmund's Dungeon is at Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre, B37 5TL. Visit the website for more information or email hail@ceolmundsdungeon.com.
