Lee Davis from The Works in Sutton Coldfield has been crowned this month’s local hero in the Royal Town’s Sutton Smiles Better scheme.
Lee was named the winner of this month’s prize thanks to his outstanding customer service, and going the extra mile to assist customers and take the time to explain the products.
Launched by Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID over a year ago, this local initiative rewards its community champions for their hard work, dedication and commitment to going the extra mile every day to make someone smile.
Fuelled by public nominations, Sutton Smiles Better encourages members of the public to nominate the individuals who make a difference to their customers, whether they work in retail, hospitality or professional services.
Manager Lee, who was nominated by customer George Clayton, has been praised for making customers feel very welcome in the shop.
Speaking of his experience at The Works, George said: “Lee made us feel very welcome in his shop. He couldn't do more to help us.
“He went the extra mile when we couldn't reach an item on the top shelf and got it down for us. As I was buying artist materials, I was glad that Lee could assist us and talk knowledgeably about the products that he sells.
“He's a credit to his shop and company and should be recognised.”
Lee, who lives locally in Sutton, said: “I’m really pleased to have won! The Works focuses on excellent customer service and we always take our time to chat and get to know our customers personally.”
Lee will receive a prize of £100 in local vouchers and will proudly display the Sutton Smiles Better trophy in the shop this month.
Every month, a panel of local business representatives select one worthy winner from the nominations, who will win £100 vouchers to spend in the town centre. The nominator will also receive £25 in local vouchers if they win.
The scheme has so far recognized the fantastic work from individuals in a host of Sutton Coldfield businesses, including Aldi, Vision Express, Holland & Barrett, The Gym, River Island and Poundland.
