Katie Mason, store manager at Pandora in Sutton Coldfield has been crowned February’s local hero in the Royal Town’s Sutton Serves Better scheme.

She was named the winner thanks to her ‘excellent customer service, being great fun, knowledgeable and really helpful.’

A local girl, Katie obtained a degree in jewellery before moving into jewellery retail and finding her niche with Pandora, where she has worked for almost 7 years.

She was nominated by town councillor Keith Ward, who said:

“I have visited the store a few times for presents and was very grateful for Katie’s help.  I find choosing jewellery tricky but Katie excelled – plus she was fun and made time to engage.  Pandora Sutton is a credit to the chain; I would recommend it highly to anyone searching for something special for their loved ones. The brilliant manager Katie plays a major role in this!”

Katie loves jewellery and in particular loves working at Pandora for the unique opportunity it represents to interact compassionately with customers.

Katie said: “It's not just about celebration, sometimes people are experiencing a bereavement and they want to find something to commemorate a loved one for example. It's wonderful to be able to help them find something for that and for every other type of occasion in life.”

Launched by Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID, the initiative aims to recognise the excellence provided throughout shops, offices, bars and restaurants in the town centre, particularly recognising those individuals who go the extra mile.  Each month, a panel of local business representatives select one worthy winner.

The BID has so far recognized the fantastic customer service from individuals across a host of Sutton Coldfield businesses, including Holland & Barrett, The Gym, Appetites Café, the Grape Tree, TGI Fridays, The Gate, Simpsons gin bar and Eleon.

Angela Henderson, manager of the Gracechurch Shopping Centre and Chair of the BID, said,

“There’s no doubt that town centres have suffered some incredibly challenging times recently, facing circumstances like never before.

“The Sutton Serves Better award is a fantastic way to raise awareness and recognise the excellence in our shops, offices, pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes, and goes a small way to showing our appreciation for the hard work from individuals not just throughout the pandemic, but every day.”

Katie will receive a prize of £100 in local vouchers and will proudly display the Sutton Serves Better plaque.
