“I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge all the women in our community, across our country and across the world on International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is not only a day to celebrate women and their achievements. It’s a day to empower, encourage and motivate any agenda aimed at improving equal rights and opportunities for women. A day to realise our capabilities and display our strength in order to improve the life choices of future girls and women.

As Mayor of the Royal Town, I have been fortunate to meet with so many incredible women who have made significant contributions to our community. They have been an inspiration to me.

To mark International Women’s Day I met with the wonderful ladies of Sutton Active Inclusion who host a walk & talk session in Sutton Park every Sunday morning. This is a friendly, safe and inclusive environment with an aim to help women feel connected and valued and give people a real sense of wellbeing. For more info: www.suttonactiveinclusion.co.uk

Happy International Women’s Day.”

Cllr Cindy Yip, Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield
